Attorney Andrew Farmer

 
After graduating from Sevier County High School, Andrew went to East Tennessee State University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Andrew went on to Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, to obtain his Juris Doctorate degree. During his law school career, Andrew took a concentration in International Law, which afforded him the opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand and Australia. After receiving his law degree, Andrew clerked with Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Gary Wade. Soon afterward, he was admitted to practice law in Tennessee and opened his own law office in May 2008.

His education, experience, and candor reflect a high level of legal ability and expertise. He has aggressively represented clients in many areas, including personal injury, criminal defense, family law, bankruptcy and more. Andrew attacks each case uniquely as he has a keen understanding that each situation and client is different. Andrew is admitted to practice in all Tennessee State courts and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Andrew attended and graduated from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers – Criminal Defense College in June 2009. Andrew is a licensed title insurance producer and is a partner in Hometown Title in Sevierville, Tennessee. Andrew is also a certified Rule 31 and family law mediator for the State of Tennessee.

Andrew was elected to the Tennessee State House of Representatives in November 2012, and has been a member of the 108th, 109th and 110th General Assembly as the State Representative for House District 17, serving part of Sevier County and Jefferson County. He currently serves as Chairman of the Civil Justice Committee, sits on the Civil Justice Sub-committee, Criminal Justice Committee, and the Calendar and Rules Committee. He is also a member of the Integrated Criminal Justice Steering Committee, Department of Children’s Services – Tri-State Council and the National Conference of State Legislatures – Law, Criminal Justice, and Public Safety. While serving as State Representative, Andrew has received the following awards:2016 Outstanding Representative for County Officials Association, 2016 Legislator of the Year Award – Tennessee American Academy of Pediatrics, 2016 Legislator of the Year Award – Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug and other Addiction Services (TAADAS), and 2013 Tennessee Bar Association President's Award.

Andrew was voted as the best attorney in Sevier County in The Mountain Press Readers Choice awards and has been voted in the top three attorneys for several years. Andrew has been given the honor of being a Legislative Speaker for the Tennessee Bar Association from 2014 through 2017 and has been named to the Nations Top One Percent, Top 100 Trial Lawyers and Top 10 Under 40. Andrew also served as Honorary Chairman for Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity in 2013 and is an avid supporter and sponsor of the Boys and Girls Club in Sevier and Jefferson County’s.

Travis McCarter

 
Mr. McCarter is a lifelong East Tennessee resident, having attended Sevier County High School before receiving both his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. McCarter had a distinguished academic career, having graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee and making the Dean’s List while at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Since becoming licensed in 2010, Mr. McCarter has gained an incredible amount of trial experience in handling cases of all types at all levels of state and federal court. Mr. McCarter is one of very few attorneys in East Tennessee who can say they have successfully argued and won a case in front of the Court of Appeals, secured a six-figure verdict in a civil trial, and successfully conducted a criminal homicide trial at which the Defendant was able to avoid a conviction. Mr. McCarter currently serves as the primary litigation specialist at The Law Offices of Andrew Farmer, arguing hundreds of cases per year in the various state and federal courts in our area.
When he is not practicing law, Mr. McCarter enjoys attending church, golfing, and spending time with his family.
 
 

Deborah L. McCloud

 
 
Ms. McCloud has been employed as a Paralegal with the Law Offices of Andrew Farmer, PLLC since 2014. Ms. McCloud assists the firm in the practice of civil litigation representing clients in the areas of family law, personal injury, worker’s compensation, wills and estates and construction law.As a wife and mother of three children, Ms. McCloud balanced a full time job in a restaurant and being a full time student. She graduated from Knoxville Business College in Knoxville, Tennessee, now known as South College, with an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. Immediately after graduating, she continued working her full time job along with a part-time job as a Paralegal for Attorney and Knox County Child Support Magistrate, Wayne K. Houser, Jr. Ms. McCloud assisted Mr. Houser in his practice, working in several areas of law, until he became the Child Support Magistrate for Knox County and his law office closed. Ms. McCloud then accepted a position as a full time Paralegal with the law firm of O’Neil, Parker and Williamson, LLC where she learned the areas of personal injury and worker’s compensation from the perspectives of both Plaintiff and Defense. After four (4) years of employment, Ms. McCloud left the firm to further her career and became employed as a Paralegal by the law firm, Bernstein, Stair and McAdams, LLP where she was employed for sixteen (16) years, learning many aspects of the legal field. Furthering her career once again, Ms. McCloud joined the Law Firm of Andrew Farmer, PLLC in 2014.Ms. McCloud resides with her husband in Knoxville where she enjoys spending time with her family and being involved with her church and community. Ms. McCloud is a supporter of children’s ministries and Voice of Children ministry, a children’s home in Haiti. Ms. McCloud also has an interest in arts and crafts, graphics, music, singing and technology.

Marie T. Jackson, Paralegal/Office Manager

 
Marie moved to Sevierville in 2004 from Florida to raise her family and change career directions. Marie attended Walters State Community College and graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2006 with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies. Marie went on to attend Tusculum College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management in December 2008. Marie furthered her education by obtaining her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Tusculum College in May 2015. She has been a paralegal in Sevierville since 2007 and has assisted attorney’s through every phase of a case, including trials in state and federal criminal, civil and family law cases. Marie has been working with Andrew since July 2009 and helps with research, document drafting, scheduling, client relations and office management. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Marie lived in Florida and worked as a systems engineer in the technology and electronic document management system industry.
Marie is the mother of two children. When not working, she enjoys scrapbooking, target practicing, riding horses, reading and spending time with her family.
